Hope and Anchor Community Church started as a handful of passionate people, a word from God & a passion to see the citizens of the city of London and Camden Town moving in a loving relationship with Jesus and achieving their full potential in life.
In May 2015 we started meeting in the basement of a coffee shop. When we realised that we were filling the whole basement and that we almost could not tell the difference between the people that came for the meeting and the other customers. From 2016-2024, we rented different spaces in Camden Town as we continued to grow. At the end of 2024, we believed that God was calling us to move our Sunday services to Hackney Wick, a vibrant and creative neighbourhood in East London. So, in the beginning of 2025, we held our first service in The Cave! This creative warehouse space provides an inviting atmosphere for people from all walks of life to encounter God. We have monthly "At The Table" services where we share a meal together and discuss how God is moving in our own lives, encouraging a deeper sense of community. After all, the church is not just something we attend; it's who we are!
As our church continues to be established in Hackney Wick, we also are still active in Camden Town through our church coffee shop and weekly evangelism. Regardless of where we are, we believe that church is not only a space for us to worship God but for others in the community who have yet to experience His love find a place where they can belong. Our services are currently being held on Sundays at The Cave, Hackney Wick E3 2NR at 4pm!

Christian & Johanna
Although they are the head pastors and founding family, the Vargas are more likely to be known for the God-given heart and passion to see Camden and the city of London transformed through knowing Christ. They are often found in the streets talking with anyone and everyone, and are driven by a servant's heart of love and hospitality that seeks to equip and encourage.

Debora
Debora leads our livestream team and can be found behind one of the cameras on a Sunday. She is passionate about spreading the Gospel through media and leads her team to broadcast our services on YouTube and social media so people beyond those that attend the Sunday services can hear the messages.

Jorien
Jorien Pueyes is heavily involved in our welcome team and our community outreach initiatives. She has a heart to see the church go beyond its walls and meet people where they are, and acts as a key link between the church and the community. On a Sunday you can find her at our welcome table getting people connected throughout the week.

Laura
Laura heads up the set-up team and the overall production of Sunday services. She works alongside the team to ensure that we are able to put forth the best service that we can and can create a space where people feel welcome and can encounter God. She also encourages people to use their practical skills to serve the church and reminds us how each part of a Sunday is worship!
